Here are some of the hottest zip codes in Portland right now, where everyone is moving to, that you should check out for yourself. 

1. 97206

Nestled between the Willamette River and I-205 in the southeast, 97206 is one of the hottest zip codes in Portland right now with 593 sales this year, with many people settling into homes at a median price of $525,000. Neighborhoods in this area have a variety of schools nearby to choose from and give you quick access to downtown Portland and plenty of shopping nearby, such as Walmart, Target, Costco, Trader Joe’s, and much more. 

Additionally, the Willamette River area features an abundance of parks and nature spots for residents to enjoy on a bright sunny weekend, such as Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden and Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. So if you are looking for an area with convenient access points, shopping, and beautiful nature spots to enjoy, you should consider checking out this area.

If you prefer to keep your distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown Portland and would not mind a quieter area, then 97045 in Oregon City and Beavercreek could be the spot for you. Also located on the outskirts of Portland in Gresham, 97080 has seen 496 sales this year with a median housing price of $525,000 with plenty of things to do nearby. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the Oxbow Regional Park or Hogan Butte Nature Park, while dog lovers can visit Main City Park’s off-leash area to spend some time in the sun with their furry pals. You will find your staple eateries like Sakura, Yami Sushi, and The Mash Burger, in addition to plenty of local favorites such as Chang’s Mongolian Grill and Blue Pine Grill.

Located in SW Portland along I-5 is 97219 which saw a median housing price of $687,000 and 453 sales this year. Residents here can look forward to splashing in the Willamette River on a hot day or venturing out to enjoy the River View Natural Area and Tryon Creek State Park, in addition to plenty of shopping and dining along the riverfront and Interstate. 

For college-age students and aspiring attorneys, the neighborhoods here place you conveniently close to Lewis & Clark College and Law School, making for a lively college environment surrounded by plenty of things to do in the area. 

5. 97211

On the northeast side of Portland along the Columbia River, 97211 places you conveniently between Portland and Vancouver. The area saw a median housing price of $625,000 and 393 sales this year. Located in the heart of the Alberta District for all your favorite restaurants and local neighborhood shopping.  Along the river, residents love to spend time at the beaches that hug the riverbanks, while others dine out at restaurants like Salty’s on the Columbia River for some of the best seafood in the area. 

Additionally, car enthusiasts can head to the Portland International Raceway for some exciting events, while those who are frequent flyers may appreciate living in the shadow of Portland International Airport and quick access to its amenities.

6. 97217

Located in North Portland on the west side of I5 and north of the Columbia River and near the airport and raceway is 97217, with a median housing price of $575,000 and 392 sales this year. You can find a variety of cuisines in the area, like Thai and Japanese food, in addition to plenty of shopping not too far away and quite a few second-hand stores with a charming downtown Kenton strip next to the infamous Paul Bunyan statute. The area also features the Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area, the Historic Vanport, and the Portland Expo Center, as well as easy access to the University of Portland for students.

Tucked away on the north corner of Portland between the Columbia and Willamette Rivers and with a median housing price of $515,000 and 336 sales this year, 97203 includes the University of Portland, which makes it an excellent area for students and includes a lively downtown area in St. Johns. The area features many coffee shops, restaurants, and bars, as well as beautiful vistas with the Willamette river banks offering plenty of space to hang out, relax, and enjoy your time outdoors. 

And in case you love historic landmarks, St. John’s Bridge is a national landmark built in 1931 and remains an incredible steel suspension bridge with gothic-style towers that are the tallest in Portland and by far my favorite Portland bridge.

Located further down the Willamette River and south of downtown Portland in Clackamas County around Milwaukie, 97267 has seen 286 sales this year with a median housing price of $555,000 and is heavily saturated with churches and plenty of schools. While the area is heavily residential, you have easy access to major highways that can take you to nearby shopping centers and popular eateries as well as easy access to the Willamette River and fun outdoor activities.

9. 97070

Another area located a little further south of Portland is 97070, centered around the town of Wilsonville, with a median housing price of $700,000 and 229 sales this year. Residents can enjoy the views along the Willamette River and great nature spots with Coffee Lake Wetlands and Graham Oaks Nature Park. In addition to your standard affair of fast food chains and local restaurants, residents here also live within reach of several nearby vineyards and wineries.  Wilsonville is also the home base to many corporations such as Zerox, FLIR, Siemens Industry Software, and many more. 

10. 97068

The final area on this list is 97068, located past Oswego Lake and along the Willamette River in West Linn and Stafford area, with a median house price of $870,000 and 315 sales this year. This is an ideal place for individuals and families who prefer to stay out of downtown Portland and love outdoor activities. There’s a cute downtown area full of great restaurants and a small community vibe where Friday Night Lights are a big deal.
